CYKLOOP is equipped with a special diffusion screen optimized for stereo projection.
The two integrated DLP stereo projectors use wide angle lenses to generate a stereo image.
The realistic impression lets the user “dive” in a complex virtual world of data.
CYKLOOP includes a high precision tracking system. This tracking system recognizes your point of view and your direction of view via an electromagnetic field and sends this information to the Virtual Reality Software COVISE. So COVISE “knows” where you are and where you are looking to in your virtual world of data and adapts the image according to this information.
The high speed SGI or Linux computers supplied with CYKLOOP are tailored to the requirements of Virtual Reality sessions. Our specialists have tuned and successfully tested the various components of CYKLOOP: Virtual Reality software, graphic computer, tracking system, and stereo projection equipment.
CYKLOOP has been developed for “typical” Virtual Reality sessions. The standard version (84” screen) can be used without problems by teams of five to ten people discussing and interactively improving product development scenarios. Unlike stationary Virtual Reality environments you can move the CYKLOOP, and so you can optimize the development process at different departments, close to the responsible engineers working place.
You can easily present new processes or products at your customer’s site. The CYKLOOP is an excellent tool even for trade shows and other events. And: You can use CYKLOOP for your Video, TV, and PowerPoint presentations.
Tracking System “Flock of Birds” and 3-D mouse
CYKLOOP uses the widespread and proven tracking system from Ascension. The “Flock of Birds” has a radius of action of up to two meters and this gives you enough room to move in front of the projection screen. The system uses DC and is, therefore, quite insensitive to magnetic interference. Other tracking systems, like Polhemus Fastrak or Ascension Longrange emitters can be combined with CYKLOOP on request.
Computer Hardware
CYKLOOP is equipped either with a Linux PC or with an SGI graphic workstation. So you can always choose the optimum solution for your budget. To ensure a reliable configuration regardless of the dynamic development in the PC area, our specialists are continuously testing new products. The selection criterion is not only performance, but also stability of the complete solution package. CYKLOOP with Linux comes, therefore, only as a fixed setup tested by VirCinity, and we prefer systems of well known manufacturers like HP, IBM, or SGI.
For more demanding applications, the high end graphic computers of SGI are used. The scope reaches from the Octane 2 Workstation (with passive stereo projection using the xpo.1 Video Splitter) up to the Onyx computers.
