Media Control

Media Control:

Projection systems in everyday use are often connected to different configurations: there are presentations using a laptop, VR presentations in stereo, or videos, and frequently computers with different operating systems are used.

Projectors of today, therefore, usually provide several inputs, video matrices, or kvm (k
eyboard/video/monitor) switches.

In order to avoid end user problems working with such a complex system (e.g. damaging projectors due to frequent change of contacts or due to wrong signals) VirCinity offers a solution for media control.

All modern projectors, video cross bars, and highend kvm switches can be externally controlled by serial interfaces. Using a personal computer you can implement remote control for a number of devices. Using a web server this service can be offered in the whole network - from all computers connected and equipped with a simple web browser. The hardware will be chosen as required, and the software will be configured according to the environment. Touch screens or monitors can be used for control, too. Access controls will prevent fraudulent use or inadvertent external interference.

Expect from Vircinity a solution tailored to your needs: in preliminary talks the configurations in question will be determined and subsequently built up. The required hardware will be selected, and the software will be configured according to the environment.

Adaptations on user level are possible, too: ranging from the "power user" who wants to program (with password protection) all switches and projectors "manually", the user with a few different configurations, down to the simple user with only one configuration, who needs not more than a single ON/OFF switch. Thus a complex technical miracle will become an easy-to-use tool for displaying pictures with computers.

In addition, media control can be used to supervise switching on/off the projectors and thus to minimize the thermal wear of expensive projector lamps: If the user whose image is connected to the projector logs out or is inactive for a long time, the projectors can be dimmed, switched to standby or even switched off completely. A projector lamp has a lifetime of a few hundred hours only. So the cost of media control will soon be compensated by saving costs for lamp replacements.
